Home Improvement Advice for Bathrooms

Do it Yourself Tips for Bathrooms

It makes good sense to put bathrooms on the same level in the property as bedrooms; this tends to be more convenient for getting ready to go out and night time visits to the toilet. It is cost effective to buy the bathroom suite as a whole rather than buying each as a single item, a whole suite could cost, for instance, $400 whereas the sink bought separately could cost $150.

If you want to make your bathroom look different, we would suggest changing your accessories, such as taps, mirrors and radiators. Changing these accessories can make a huge difference to the bathroom at a low cost.

Remember to consider lighting, sockets and ventilation. Mirrors should be well lit and switches should be safe and accessible, you should not be able to touch switches or sockets with wet hands. Shaving sockets are usually fitted into bathrooms by the sink and near a mirror. Electrical equipment should not be used in the bathroom for safety reasons. All lights should be enclosed so that no water can hit the bulb.

If you can not do these things try and save space by having a shower option in the bath rather than a separate one, corner baths make good use of space, which is otherwise useless.

Do not forget when planning your bathroom you will have to be able to use the utilities with ease and have room to maneuver, take the following into consideration:

You must have ample room to be able to sit comfortably on the toilet

Lean over the sink and bath

Open the shower door
