Installation Advice

If you know what you want in your kitchen and know how you want it laid out, a diagram will help your fitter / designer to get a clear picture. Mark clearly the following items to get exactly what you want from your Kitchen:-

Lights

switches

plug sockets

telephone point

cooker

freezer

dishwasher

washing machine

storage cupboards (small and large)

Remember if you are having a natural finish such as wood, it will vary in shades from time to time, this cannot be helped.

Points for the builder

The sink should be siliconed or an adequate adhesive into place, this will seal it and make it water tight.

Any appliance or cupboard which is standing on the floor should be fitted after the flooring, this will make sure that everything is one level.

You should ensure that you have easy access to pipes, in the event of a leak or blockage.

The cooker (if gas) should be installed by a Corgi (The Council for Registered Gas Installers) approved plumber and you should have a certificate to say it is safe.

All electrics should be installed by a NICEIC registered electrician and a certificate obtained to say all electrics are safe.

Cookers

Appearance - What look are you aiming to achieve?

Co-ordinate with dӄr, you need a colour and a type that will match the rest of your kitchen.

Available space - how much room have you allowed for your oven / hob i.e. 4 burners or 8? One oven or two?

Griddles - deep fat fryers and so on.

Work out how much you want to spend on each item.
